Today at 1:15 p.m. there was a Great Egret feeding along the shore of the pond
at Sarsaparilla Trail in Ottawa across from the viewing platform.
Directions:
Sarsaparilla Trail is along Old Richmond Road in Ottawa approximately 200
metres northeast of the intersection with West Hunt Club
While riding home on the bus yesterday I saw a Great Egret hunting near the
water's edge downstream from the water treatment plant at Deschenes Rapids.

The Great Egret was seen feeding again this morning near the mudflats in the
west most part of Andrew Haydon Park. A Great Blue Heron feeding in the same
spot.
Also seen this morning were Kildeer, 2 Spotted Sandpiper and a flock of 16
Least Sandpipers. Happy birding.

A lingering Great Egret was still at the pond along Earle Armstrong Road
near High Road. A Great Egret has been seen at this pond off and on now for at
least a month. Some days I see it and some days I don't (even when I walk out
to check). Late today it was busily feeding at the
The Great Egret originally reported by JoAnne McDonald 2 days ago is still
at the reported location. Saw it on Sunday and later in the day Monday, May
28th. In the same area was a Great Blue Heron and a Green Heron along with
about a dozen or so Ring-billed Gulls actively fishing.
On Sunday
A great egret was observed in the stormwater management area of Riverside
South (along River Road) on Saturday. What I assume to be the same bird was
seen in a tree in the same area on Friday afternoon.

At 5:35 pm today, from my bus going over the Rideau River between Lees and
Hurdman Stations, I spotted the Great Egret on the river to the south-west of
the bridge.

The Great Egret was seen this morning (Sunday) around 09h.40 feeding on the
Rideau River near the playgrounds off River Road (opposite McArthur). From
there it flew southwards along the river was found again around 09h.50
feeding just just south of the Cummings Bridge.
