Highlights:

The last couple of weeks have been relatively quiet, now that the majority
of the summer migrants have departed. Winter replacements have slowly been
filtering in but even they are still hard to come by. Here are the
highlights of the last couple of weeks:

TUNDRA SWAN - over 80 birds have been present at Button Bay, Wolfe Island
over the last week or so. Two birds were seen at Cataraqui Bay, Kingston on
26th.

TRUMPETER SWAN - two birds were seen south of Bedford Mills, at Devil Lake,
on 20th.

EURASIAN WIGEON - the continuing male bird continues in Kingston's Inner
Harbour, last seen on 25th.

BLACK SCOTER - a female was seen in Hay Bay, Napanee on 23rd.

RED-THROATED LOON - a single bird showed up at Millhaven on 19th and was
still present on 21st.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - two birds were seen in Frontenac Provincial Park on
18th.

YELLOW PALM WARBLER - a nice example of this form was seen at Gananoque on
16th.

RUSTY BLACKBIRD - a good-sized flock of 150 birds was seen at Frontenac
Provincial Park on 27th.

WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL - 4 birds were noted at a property near Verona on
27th.

PINE SISKIN - several records at a property near Verona over the last couple
of weeks but no real evidence of southerly movements beyond there.

In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording
area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings
Policy
<http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy.
pdf> . Please note that you must be a member of Kingston Field Naturalists
(KFN) or be accompanied by a member to access the Martin Edwards Reserve.

As always, a big thank you goes to all those who have submitted sightings
directly or via eBird.

Mark.
