Highlights: The rush appears to be over with far fewer birding highlights this week - birding remained good and steady however, but nothing exceptional was reported. Here are the highlights of the last week: BRANT - there was a big movement of birds on 26th/27th with over 800 seen on Amherst Island on 26th. CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW - the annually-occurring bird, first noted at this location in 2014, was not reported this week from its haunt just outside the area on Brewers Road/Hilltop Road, Prince Edward County. It is unclear, however, whether birders tried for it. RED KNOT - 15 birds were seen on Amherst Island on 26th. WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER - 2 birds were seen on Amherst Island on 26th. WILSON'S PHALAROPE - birds continue at the known breeding location of Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, where 9 were seen on 27th. LEAST BITTERN - it has been a quiet start to the seen for this species, with birds seen at just 2 locations, Camden Lake and Moscow Marsh, though 4 birds were seen at the latter on 25th. RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - an adult was seen near Gananoque on 25th and 26th. PEREGRINE FALCON - There were no sightings this week. OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER - singles were seen on Amherst island, Clear lake Road (Elgin), and Opinicon Road this week. LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE - birds continued to be seen at Napanee Limestone Plain IBA this week. NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD - never an easy bird to see in the area, an individual was seen east of Kingston on Abbey Dawn Road on 26th. ORCHARD ORIOLE - there were far fewer observations this week, all reports coming from Prince Edward Point and area. LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH - the known bird on Canoe Lake Road was seen only on 29th this week. CERULEAN WARBLER - there were numerous observations from Opinicon Road, Canoe Lake Road and Frontenac Provincial Park this week.
