Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or send records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

 

Highlights:

The migration continued on schedule this week but it was actually rather
quiet overall with one major highlight at the tail end of the week. Here are
the highlights of the last week:

 

SOLITARY SANDPIPER - a lone bird was photographed along Babylon Road, Prince
Edward, on 30th.

PEREGRINE FALCON - Kingston's downtown bird was seen on 28th, with another
at Main Duck Island on 2nd.

GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER - the first of the year was heard near Godfrey on
29th.

EASTERN KINGBIRD - the first arrival was noted at Lemoine point, Kingston,
on 2nd.

LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE - 2 birds were seen at Napanee Limestone Plain IBA on 27th
with singles on 28th-30th.

CAROLINA WREN - there was just a single sighting this week of an individual
at Ravensview on 3rd.

BLUE-GREY GNATCATCHER - an early bird was seen at Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe
Island, on 28th.

WOOD THRUSH - the first of the season was present at Queens University
Biological Station on 29th.

YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD - a male was seen by observers conducting an aerial
survey of Wolfe Island on 2nd.

LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH - a single bird continued at the known location of
Canoe Lake Road this week.

GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER - the first report came in today (3rd), of a single
bird banded at Prince Edward Point.

BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER - the first sighting of the year was of 2 birds at
Prince Edward Point on 2nd.

ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK - the first birds to our area were seen today (3rd)
at several locations.
