No change this week other than fresh dumpings of snow. Here are the
highlights of the last week:

TRUMPETER SWAN - far fewer birds were seen this week, with a high of just 7
at Davis Lock on 8th.

NORTHERN PINTAIL - single males were seen at the Wolfe Island ferry ramp in
Kingston on 4th and Napanee Springside Park on 6th.

ICELAND GULL - a single was seen near Ivy Lea on the Thousand Islands
Parkway on 6th.

SNOWY OWL - birds continue to be seen on Wolfe and Amherst Islands though
they are no longer quite so easy to see. Some adult males on Wolfe Island
are recent arrivals. All farmland on both islands is private - please no
trespassing.

NORTHERN GOSHAWK - an adult bird was seen at Camden East on 7th.

YELLOW-BELLIED WOODPECKER - continuing birds were seen north of the city
near Battersea on 5th, 7th and 8th and Lower Brewer's Locks on 9th.

PEREGRINE FALCON - the resident downtown Kingston birds were seen on 6th and
7th.

CAROLINA WREN - a continuing bird was seen at a private residence in
Sydenham on 3rd.

RED CROSSBILL - birds were seen near Verona on 5th. Sightings remain
frequent north of the area near Ardoch.

In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording
area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings
Policy
<http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy.
pdf> . Please note that you must be a member of Kingston Field Naturalists
(KFN) or be accompanied by a member to access the Martin Edwards Reserve.

As always, a big thank you goes to all those who have submitted sightings
directly or via eBird.

Mark.
