Hi Birders,

A group of us from the Kitchener-Waterloo Field Naturalists toured the
Aylmer-Long Point area today. It was pretty wintry (high of +1 C) and some wind
(NW @ ~15-20km/hr). Despite this we ended with 63 species. Highlights:

Greater White-fronted Geese - 2 adults at Lee Brown's -> found yesterday
(reported on ebird)
Little Gull - 25 -> 1 first-winter, 2 second-winters, and 23 adults off Turkey
Point beach. This group was with a mixed gull flock, giving good looks. Seems
like a good number for the time of year.
Iceland Gull - 1 first-winter bird, also at Turkey Point
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 adult at the end of Old Cut Blvd. (standing on the
ice in Inner Bay).
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 adult at Lee Brown's

Most of the typical early spring birds were back in evidence. Tundra Swan's
were in good numbers (as well as the 'typical' bay ducks), with an estimated
10,000 seen between Aylmer and Long Point.

Direcitons:
Lee Browns is accessed off Front Roady (Road 42), about 2-3km. west of Port
Royal.
Turkey Point is accessed from Highway 24, at Road 16 (signs point to Turkey
Point). For more specific directions email me, buy the Bird Finding Guide to
Long Point'.

Good Birding!
Jim, Mike and Ken Burrell
