Birders

Earlier today I was asked to review and approve a post about proposed hunting of Double-crested Cormorants.  I could have suggested that the post be rephrased in a more neutral information only format.  I did not.

Regardless,  Ontbirds is a very large list that has Posting Guidelines  (a link to the Guidelines can be found at the bottom of this and every Ontbird post) that are intended to keep Ontbirds focused on rare and unusual bird sightings with the intent of supplying information and directions that will help others relocate the bird.

Ontbirds Posting Guidelines accept that non-sighting messages of interest to the birding community can appear on Ontbirds.  However we ask that non-sighting posts be reviewed and approved by the Ontbirds Coordinator before being sent to the list at large. The reason is simple we want and need to minimize discussion.  With over 3600 members we run the risk of swamping Ontbirds with discussion and opinion.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  I'll try to focus on birds
