Greetings birders

Today I dropped by Stoney Island Conservation Area (which is not on an
island...) and found it chock-full of migrants.

Some of what was seen:

Golden-crowned Kinglets (tons)
Ruby-crowned Kinglets (a few)
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Nashville Warbler
American Redstart
Canada Warbler
Ovenbird
Blackburnian Warbler
Blue-headed Vireo
Grey-cheeked Thrush
Swainson's Thrush
House Wren
White-throated Sparrow

The most crowded spots were just a short hike from the parking lot -
take the "Main" trail (see map at location, it's makes with green)
into the heavily wooded area, the warblers and kinglets were most
active in well shaded areas. There's a ton of trails to explore here,
one could make a day of exploring this place. The trails also reach
the Lake Huron shoreline, but there was nothing of note there today.

To get to Stoney Island CA, take Bruce Rd 23 north from Kincardine,
north of Concession 5 and south of Concession 7. See here for details:
http://www.saugeenconservation.com/ca.php?page=stoneyisland - it's a
great migrant spot in spring and fall.

Good birding
Rob
