Roger Frost found a first summer Franklin’s Gull on the west pier at the mouth
of Port Hope harbour about 7pm this evening, Monday, May 9.
It was being harassed by larger gulls and unfortunately flew off to the west
just before I arrived.
May be worth looking for tomorrow – Bowmanville, Oshawa,
Bird is still present now. Showing well in the NE section of the wetland.

Saw an unusual yellow-rump with a yellow throat. Checked it out with another
birder who called it an Audubon's but when I returned it had flown. Please keep
an eye out in the European spruces just south of the Jean Tweed House.

Although activity has slowed down this afternoon, there are still a decent
variety of birds to look at in most parts of the park.
Perhaps the most notable bird reported was a Le Conte's Sparrow well out on

Constructed Wetland.

Bird is still present near horse paddock in muddy pasture on mersea Rd E just
out side pelee park in Leamington. From park entrance go east on road E about
half a kilo and it's on your left .

My Dad found a Male Kirtland's warbler at approx 11:50 North of orientation
parking lot at the end of the new gravel trail where it loops, trail ends
not far from park entrance. Was with a large number of palms and yellow
rumped warblers. Currently trying to relocate. Parking is limited.

Best migration of the spring so far. Lots of song. More than a dozen
species of warblers in reasonable numbers, almost all males. Orchard
oriole, blue-headed and warbling vireos, least flycatcher, hermit and wood
thrushes, rose-breasted grosbeaks.

On Sunday I saw a noisy merlin in the Giant Tiger parking lot in Acton. It was
flying from the very large deciduous tree along the north fence line of the
parking lot over to the top of the 40-foot norway spruce along the west (back)
fence line behind the big yellow storage container. There is
On Sunday afternoon the sod farm east of Casselman, well known for hosting
rare geese last fall, was blanketed by a good-sized flock of about 25,000
Greater Snow Geese. This is likely a large percentage of the birds
