Good morning birders, We have lovely weather in the area this morning, and the birding quality is rather nice as well!
The highlights so far this morning include a MISSISSIPPI KITE flying south over the Visitor Centre parking lot, and a BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE seen flying south over the Cactus Field and soon after flying east over the Visitor Centre parking lot. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW continues just south of the West Beach parking lot and was re-found early this morning. WHITE-EYED VIREOS have been reported from just north of the Tip tram stop, near bridge F on the Woodland Nature Trail, and north of the Northwest Beach parking lot. YELLOW-THROATED and PHILADELPHIA VIREOS were also reported from the Tilden Woods Trail. A female HOODED WARBLER was seen just south of the Botham Loop on Woodland Nature Trail, and the PROTHONOTARY WARBLER continues near bridge F on the same trail. MOURNING and CANADA WARBLERS have been reported from both the Woodland Nature Trail and the Tilden Woods Trail. Bird diversity has been quite good along Woodland Nature Trail, the Tilden Woods Trail, and further north in the park. The overall volume of birds is relatively low, and with the number of female warblers and more skulking species around, it may require a bit more effort to find them!
