It is a blustery day at Point Pelee today. This has kept many birds down low and sheltered on the East side of the Park. Not as many birds have been reported as a result of the conditions.
Those that braved the Tip were rewarded with a few good species. A California Gull rested for a few minutes before disappearing. Sanderling and Dunlin were noted on the beach. Also seen a Red-headed Woodpecker, Clay-colored Sparrow, a Black-billed Cuckoo, and an Eastern Bluebird. A Canada Warbler was reported from near the 42 Latitude sign near the washrooms at the Tip. Bobolink was seen in the Sparrow Field. There was a Louisiana Waterthrush seen on the seasonal trail near the wet area in Tilden Woods. Also noted in Tilden was a Gray-cheeked Thrush. A Summer Tanager was noted at the Cactus Field as well as a Blue-winged Warbler. A Kentucky Warbler was just reported from 100 m north of Dunes Picnic Area on the Centennial Bike Trail. A report has come in that there was a Glossy Ibis and American Avocet in the shorebird cell at Hillman Marsh Conservation Area.
