Hello Today’s outing entitled Niagara Hotspots and Eastern Lake Erie Shoreline started out very slow. Around 10:30 our luck changed and based on advice from Blayne and Jean Farnan we visited a field with multiple puddles that provided views of eight species of shorebirds including American Golden-Plover, Wilson’s Snipe, and two dowitchers. After a quick break we arrived at a site where we viewed a Ruddy Turnstone. A hike on Shagbark Trail in Ridgeway gave us good views of 4 species of warblers and two Tufted Titmice and a few other species. Our last stop at Six-mile Creek added two Marsh Wrens and a Northern Parula. We tallied 50 species in total. Many thanks to the participants who were so keen to carry on despite the dismal start and congratulations to people who got life birds on the trip. Many thanks to Blayne and Jean Farnan, Bob Highcock, Jean Hampson and Kayo Roy who scouted out various locations and helped insure a successful day despite the lack of birds. If you participated today and haven’t received the shared ebird lists please email me at mjack...@brocku.ca<mailto:mjack...@brocku.ca>
