While on an Owl Walk with the Essex County F.N.C. that turned up 0 owls, we observed 350 (my estimate) to 500 (wife's estimate) White-winged Crossbills at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area in Essex County. They were actively feeding on the spruce cones surrounding the pine plantation which is just north of the park entrance. I have never seen numbers like this in Essex County before; a beautiful sight.
