Two locations for very rare BLACK-BELLIED
  WHISTLING DUCKS this week.

June 1, a BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCK was seen

DUCK appeared to drop into Tifft Nature
Preserve, but has not been re-located.

  June 5, a BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCK was
photographed at the Town of Clarence Town Hall
pond on Goodrich Road. This WHISTLING DUCK was
  not found on the 6th.

An AMER. WHITE PELICAN continues in the
Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. June 3, the
pelican was reported at Kumpf Marsh and nearby
at Mohawk Pool, to the east of the bend in the
Feeder Road, north of Route 77.

Management Area reports - two SANDHILL CRANE on
Route 77 east of Griswold Road. Over 15 BLACK
TERNS at Cayuga Pool. On Owen Road, YELLOW-
  BILLED CUCKOO, ACADIAN FLYCATCHER, OVENBIRD,

  Cedar Street bridge.

From Dunkirk Harbor, on Lake Erie in Chautauqua
County, a single RED KNOT, June 3, on the Main
Street beach and the stone inner breakwall.

On Grand Island, at Beaver Island State Park, a
LEAST BITTERN in the East River Marsh, viewed
from the south end of East River Road, and
seven CLIFF SWALLOW nests on the Park Road
bridge over the lagoon on the west side of
Beaver Island State Park. Also on Grand Island,
AMERICAN WOODCOCKS were heard before dawn on
Grand Island Blvd., near the Dunkin Donuts
  shop.

Other reports - Two OLIVE-S. FLYCATCHERS at
Amherst State Park. A PILEATED WOODPECKER in a
West Seneca yard, and a single COMMON NIGHTHAWK
over the University District in Buffalo.

Two BOS field trips this Saturday, June 8. The
  re-scheduled Whip-poor-will trip to the
Wainfleet Bog in Ontario will meet at 8 PM at
Wilson and Garringer Roads in Wainfleet, about
40 minutes from the Peace Bridge in Buffalo.
During the morning on the 8th, a half-day field
trip to search for uncommon CLAY-COL. SPARROWS
at Krull Park in Olcott. Meet at 7:30 AM at the
soccer field on Route 18, east of Route 78. And
the final BOS meeting of the season will be on
Wednesday, June 12 - a picnic and hike at Tifft
Nature Preserve in Buffalo. Meet at 6 PM with
your picnic meal for a brief meeting followed
by an evening hike through the preserve. As
always, visitors are welcome at meetings and
