Mark Patry asked me to post to say that they are currently watching the
blackbird on the golf course behind the houses where it was previously
reported. It apparently eluded people all morning and has just been found
now.

Steve Charbonneau and I heard a Dickcissel over the maintenance yard at
rondeau provincial park at about 6:30 this morning ((flying
west). White-eyed Vireo was the only other bird of note here so far but
there is a decent amount if activity.
Maintenance is just west if the campground.

Richard Pope, Sharron, Richard, Alexander Skevington and I birded the
island today. It was slowish but we had several decent birds. There was a
fair reverse migration at Fish Point this morning. The highlight was a
Yellow-throated Warbler reversing at about 7 am. A prothonotary warbler was
in the
Amazing reverse migration going in. Highlights so far are 3 summer tanagers
and a scissor-tailed flycatcher. Got to go. More later.

The reverse migration has ended here. The peak flight was from 7 to 9am.
Highlights were 8 Summer Tanagers, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Dickcissel,
Grasshopper Sparrow and Northern Mockingbird. Tennessee Warbler was the
predominant bird with over 1800 seen. Indigo Buntings followed with over
1000.
We have seen it twice, at 16:05 and 16:25. We are watching from the corner
of east west road and Henderson road in the middle of the island. Raptors
are moving along the east edge of the island. We heard that the kite was
also seen at Sheridan Point at about 14:30.

The franklin's gull returned to the field where Jean Iron reported it from
earlier this afternoon. It has been there for over an hour. There is a
Whimbrel at Wheatley harbour on the break wall (17 passed the tip of Pelee
this morning too). For Pelee listers, there is also a sedge wren at the
north
6 Greater White-fronted Geese are currently at Hillman Marsh (near Point
Pelee in Essex county).

Eriaeu was hopping this afternoon. Highlights were 6 American White
Pelicans (flying over) and hundreds of shorebirds. Sanderling and
White-rumped Sandpiper were the best. The latter was in the fields just at
the entrance to the town.

There is a Willet at the wet field just east of Port Crewe (between Pelee
and Rondeau). Also 330 Whimbrel in the field actoss from the western
entrance to Wheatley harbour.

Hi folks,
Given the high water conditions, we decided to focus on passerines today at
the expense of a big list. About 20 of us spent the entire morning at Mud
Lake in Ottawa. Five of us went on this afternoon to Sheila McKee Park
(along the Ottawa River west of the city). We ended up seeing 18
The 84th Woodstock CBC was held today (December 16th) in good conditions.
Light wind, moderate temperatures (-5) and light snow only in the morning
produced great viewing conditions and perfect conditions for pishing in
lots of birds. Despite still water being entirely frozen, these good

Just a quick note for winter listers that the Black-throated Gray Warbler
is still at Britannia in Ottawa. This morning Michelle Locke and I found it
near the filtration plant at the end of Cassels Street. Also of interest in
the area were Double-crested Cormorant, Yellow-rumped Warbler
A nice male singing and showing well just before the playground.

Good morning,
A Marbled Godwit found yesterday is still present. It is in a storm water
management pond between Hazeldean and Maple Grove Roads in Kanata (near
Ottawa). Park at the Sensplex on Maple Grove and walk south on the bike
path or park at Dollarama on Hazeldean and walk north.

For those not sick of Geese, there are 5 species in a field at the corner
of Kinburn And John Shaw roads (between Woodlawn and Kinburn). White morph
Ross’, Greater White-fronted, Cackling, blue morph Snow and Canada’s. The
search continues for Eurasian Geese

There are 7 Greater White-fronted Geese, 6 Cackling Geese and a Snow Goose
amongst the swans and Canada’s. Lee Brown’s is west of Port Rowan along
Lakeshore Road.

I just flushed it from the grass in the east end of the airfield. Middle of
the east end. It flew up into a group of 3 small (2.5m) White Pines. 20m
north of little path that runs to the water’s edge.

The 85th Woodstock Christmas Bird Count was held 22 December 2018. The
weather was suboptimal with 40-50kph winds. Almost all water was open but
had been frozen earlier in the winter. The food crop was poor with very few
tree seeds and berries.

It was near the eBird hotspot at 18–150 Shoreline Ave, South Bruce
Peninsula CA-ON (44.7366,-81.2783).

The bird was seen briefly by me at 8:40 am and then for longer at about 9am
by Paul Matthews and Richard Killeen. No one has seen it since.
More photos are still needed to support this being a morphologically pure
Lazuli but the original photo from the finder is convincing.

Now I am warm and can send more details. The bird showed twice for a minute
or two each time. It was visiting feeders at the house next door (north) to
where originally reported (1265 Fellows Road). There are millet feeders at
the house.
The best place to stand is under the big willow tree behind
Hopefully some out of town visitors are still around.
Lazuli Bunting is here now. Sit quietly under the big tree behind the
feeders and it will hopefully visit.

The Pink-footed has moved off but is still present along Frank Kenny near
the bridge. There are also Cackling and Greater White-fronted Geese there.
On Milton Road (near the bridge), there is a Ross’s Goose near the Snows. 3
Tundra Swans are in the same area.

Hello Ontbirders,
I have to change the date of the OFO outing that I am leading this month as
I will be in Greece. Instead of September 8th, the hike will be on
September 22nd. We will follow the same game plan as originally posted.
(Meet 7:30 am on Cassels Road, outside the gate to the Britannia
Birding with Mark Gawn and Jamie Spence. Mark spotted the adult Ross’s
Goose as it arrived with a flock of Snows. There were at least 136 Lesser
Black-backed Gulls (counted as they arrived at the dump from the south)!
Also of interest were 4 American Golden Plovers.

We had 26 participants on today's OFO outing in the Ottawa area and ended
up seeing 85 species over the 9 stops that we made. Highlights were a
Cackling Goose at Moodie Quarry, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls at various
sites, a perched Peregrine Falcon at Mud Lake that opened the
The 86th Woodstock Christmas Bird Count was held yesterday (Dec. 21st)
under the best conditions in memory. The wind was very light from the
south, visibility was superb, we had light snow cover to concentrate birds
and most but not all water was frozen, again concentrating lingering birds.
Our
12 Little Gulls and 1 Black-legged Kittiwake at Nelson Street flyby
(Niagara-on-The-Lake). Kittiwake came by at 17:00 so I suspect it was below
the falls for the day.

A Scott’s Oriole was present in Grey County from November 11th-December
31st. The bird is long gone but I want to let the community know as you
will hear (or have heard) about it. It was at a private residence and I was
trying to negotiate access for the community post lock down but the bird
