Hi Folks, Just got home after a meeting in London...following a busy day at the Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch and didn't get time yet to enter the numbers for today.
So...here's a quick summary for those who are interested.... The winds were NE and moderate building to strong. These winds almost always bring the birds our way...but also allows them to fly higher. There were birds all over the sky for most of the day and our final tally was 5,571. The Redtails finally decided to make a move and we tallied 936...a very good count...though well short of our highest one day count (Nov. 18, 2007 we had 3,459). The Red-shouldered Hawks were also moving with a count of 79 and the Sharpies were not to be outdone as they poured through high and low for a total of 1,633. Other highlights included Goshawks (6), Cooper's (75) and Golden Eagles (3). It was fun today with a visit by a group of Gr. 5 and 6 students from London with their teacher Bernie Vandenbelt....as well as Dave Jolly with his group from EarthQuest (London). Thanks to Russ for doing the talk today....great job as always. :) Take care, Dave _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
