Highlights: A messy week for weather with a return of snow and persistent northerly winds has slowed the arrival of new migrants. Here are the highlights of the last week: SNOW GOOSE - A single bird was present at Ivy Lea on 3rd with 250 on Wolfe Island on 4th. CACKLING GOOSE - a single bird was present on Wolfe Island on 3rd. CANVASBACK - up to 3 males continued in Kingston's Inner Harbour over the week. Redhead, Greater Scaup and Lesser Scaup are also back at this location in reasonable numbers, with a few Ring-necked Duck mixed in for good measure. BARROW'S GOLDENEYE - a pair were seen at Point Peninsula, NY on 5th. TURKEY VULTURE - birds were seen at Seeley's Bay and Ivy Lea on 3rd and Verona on 4th. KILLDEER - A single bird on Amherst Island on 3rd was the only report this week. AMERICAN WOODCOCK - Two single birds were displaying near Odessa on 3rd. SNOWY OWL - birds continue on Wolfe and Amherst Islands where turnover continues. 34 birds were counted on Wolfe Island on 4th. All farmland on both islands is private - please no trespassing. PEREGRINE FALCON - only 2 sightings of the downtown resident birds this week, on 3rd and 6th. CAROLINA WREN - a single bird was heard at Barriefield, Kingston on 3rd. EASTERN MEADOWLARK - a good number of birds were seen on 3rd, with 7 on Amherst Island and 1 on Wolfe Island. Another single was seen on Amherst on 4th but there have been no reports since. RED CROSSBILL - a single bird was noted close to Kingston, at Little Cataraqui Creek CA, on 4th.
