That happens with b54 under Snow Leopard.
I'd try either b57 or b58

I did the free one, from the quicksilver page.
Why would the free one be older ? It is suppose to only be non-quicksilver
download site, not troublesome version.

What are you talking about? All versions of Quicksilver are free. You
can get β57 or β58---for free---by following the link posted in the
thread about Quicksilver and Snow Leopard that is pinned to the top of
discussions page here on this site.
