Working with BLFS 7.8.
I gave up on trying to fix the perl bindings in xfconf, so
did --disable-perl-bindings with ./configure.
Now, i'm trying to install libxfce4ui-4.12.1. it's whining about missing
gtk-2.0, but I have gtk-3 installed. shouldn't it be finding that? I
double checked that

There is an error in the 7.8 book concerning the dependencies for
libxfce4ui. gtk+2 is required. libxfce4ui does not support gtk+3.
Can I just install gtk+2, or must I uninstall gtk+3 first?

In general, they can safely coexist. So you can have both installed.
