There are two unrelated issues here.
1 How characters are encoded in the file - ANSI, DBCS and so on.
2 How newlines are encoded.
Newlines first. There is no consistent newline character (indicating
the end of a line) as there is for the character a. Instead, Windows
and MS-DOS uses two

No, it's a real MS-DOS 6 machine, with a KeyNote Gold Voicecard
synthesizer. I'll be switching over to a custom desktop with Enhanced
DR-DOS once it's built and, hopefully, will be able to put EDRD onto
an IBM Thinkpad 310 to use for practise until my desktop is ready and
for a back-up machine.
Interesting perspective. Have you tried more modern commandline
interfaces based on non-DOS systems?

For using the BCC field temporarily press Alt + B in an open message. The

How do you count the occurrences of dates in a range of cells with Excel 2007.
Example of data:
I have cells with data in row 6, columns A to M.
Data goes to row 100
Some cells have dates mixed with data. E.g. 7/1/2010: Talked with Brad,
