I had Microsoft security essentials on my XP machine and it was great.
It runs quietly in the background while you're doing other things on
your computer. I currently have Norton on my new windows 7 computer but
am thinking of going back to MSE.

you never notice it. You can schedule scanning, so if you leave your
computer it will scan during the night when the computer is not in use.
