Randy, At this time, it is still possible to purchase an upgrade disk which will take you from Windows XP to Windows 7. However, as soon as Windows 8 comes out as a fully functioning version, the Windows 7 disks will be much harder to find. If you're going to do this at all, I'd suggest you do

I have two questions regarding this thread. 1. Must a person reformat a hard drive before converting from XP to 7? 2. If I have already purchased a version of Windows 7 which I have installed on a laptop, can I use that same CD to upgrade my desktop or must I buy another copy of Windows 7?

Rose Marie, do this. If I remember right you are using windows 7. So go to your system tray, and arrow down to where it says speaker etc. Enter there, and you will get a choice of open volume mixer. Then, tab over until you see a volume setting for win amps. Then, set it for what you want. Jim
