Hi, everyone,
I forgot how to make winamp the default player. What I want to do is have
winamp play all my files instead of windows media player. How do I make winamp
the default player?
Thanks very much.

Inside Winamp go ctrl+p to preferences, there will be a treeview with
various options; arrow down till you get to file types, then tab till you
find all button; press that and that should select all file types. Then
shift/tab twice back to close and that should be it.

Hi Pete.
1. No, it isn't necessary to re-format a hard drive when switching from XP
to Windows 7. Both of these programs are simply operating systems. They
help you access and manage other programs and files. There are times when
an incompatibility might arise if your switching from a 32 bit
Hmmm! I have never done that David. In fact, I'm not sure that the average
computer user would know how to perform a clean installation. I'll bet
it presents fewer possible issues but I'm not sure I'd recommend that course
of action to someone with normal computer experience. You may have
Hi, everyone,
I just tried playing some books that I have in .ogg format but they won’t even
play in winamp. Is there a setting I might need to change?
Thanks for your help.

Hmm, there shouldn't be. Winamp ought to handle these natively. That's
strange...the only thing I can imagine is that winamp isn't recognising them
because the file extension is wrong. This has happened to me before after
downloading something
Try updating winamp maybe though, if that's
I recommend selecting the audio files only, since though I love winamp
dearly, it isn't really the best for video formats; for that I recommend
VLC.

Hi,
I think I do have the latest version of winamp. I have several books that

yeah, having read your other recent posts now, I suspect you must have a
new-ish version, and in any case, ogg has been supported for a while...
The only other thing I can suggest is that you write in to the tech forum on
the winamp site. It's a bit of a pain though; you have to be very
What did you do to get the files to play?

Oh, it was a different problem I think, winamp was crashying from what I
remember and I had to install it from scratch. Sometimes it seems to break
and that's the only thing that'll fix it. Seems like a different issue for
you though. In the past when files inexplicably didn't play and I
It's not really any kind of a major difference between the procedures. I
wish I could find an accessible program for creating un-attended installs of
windows 7 like I did for XP. The fact is without that you do require some
sited help.
