When I moved from Wheaton, IL. to Superior, WI. I had considered buying a
robotic lawn mower. What I learned then (three years ago) was that these
lawn mowers do not mow in nice straight rows but rather use a random pattern
similar to how those toy battery powered cars from our childhood used to
does anyone remember when Chevy and others had the gas tank fillup for
cars under the rear license plates? I'm thinking the late 60's but a
friend is saying it was much earlier.Lee

Lee, I had a 76 Buick Regal where the gas tank was filled by laying the
spring loaded license plate down on the bumper. Don't know when the auto
industry stopped making cars with rear end spouts to fill the gas tank.
Hello Max,
Adjusting the track bar effects the handling of the race car. Basically in
back of the rear window there is a hole. a pit crew member will put a pole
in it and turn it, however many rounds they want to go up , or go down.
Basically what you are doing is moving the axle up and down.
I remember during the mid 80's attending a young high school girl who had a
summer job at a service station filling cars and washing wind shields.
She told me how she lost her job when, while serving a customer she stuck the
nozzle of the filler hose into a hole at the rear of the car which
Hi Lee,

There must be as many ways of assembling a clothes line as there are people
putting them up.
What did you have in mind? Something like a double line on pulley wheels? On
posts or between buildings or maybe an end on each? Maybe just a series of
static lines between overhead horizontal beams?
Hey Roger,
Pocono and Jeff yes! yes! yes!
Pocono is only about a little over a 2 hour ride.
I was at the track three times. Saw the first formula 1 and the first NASCAR
race there.
One of the best things at the first race was that Linda Carter rode in the
Hurst Olds 442 pace car. Got pretty

Thanks so much for the information! As usual, you were very

I am thinking the umbrella type would be what we are looking at.

So, now I may have to change my favorites for drivers.
My wife introduced me to Nascar when we first got married. Now I follow the
races closer than she does. Her dad's favorite driver was Bill Elliot and so
she was a fan of his too. We like the drivers who are quiet and not always

Hello Lenny,
What a great story. I really get a kick out of people who say things like
that. what the hell is a blind guy doing here. This is when i usually
start asking the person questions about the car, and how it reacts to
different changes. Yup, you guessed it, There usually the one who

They offer several methods of setting them up, spikes in the ground and so on.
The only way I have done it and I did it twice I think, maybe three times was
to embed a pipe into a cement block. You probably only want a bag, maybe two of
pre-mixed stuff, sometimes sold as Sacrete you add
It is my understanding that the boundaries, at least for the RoboMower, are
established by installing wires in the perimeter of the lawn. The RoboMower
lists for $499.

Dear list members:
Ford also had their filler caps behind the license plates. The 51 Cadillac
had its filler cap underneath the left taillight which was part of the tail

I too support what Jeff does for the blind. there is a man in this
county who is good friednds with Jeff Gordon and they have been to some
tailgate after race events. that guy has explained lots of things.

Well, look at it this way, if the robot mower mows in somewhat of a *random*
pattern the result could look like we mowed our own lawn. (LOL)
I do agree, however, that the mower could well pay for itself over a couple
of years.
We have had rain out the Kazoo this year and the grass and weeds have
We had a 1954 ford four door with the filler under a swing down rear

Later fifties cheveys and caddeys had it under a flip up left

I have a 1987 Chevy Caprice and the filler is under the license plates. I never
knew that there was an idea that they quit putting the filler there. I would
suspect that the filler could be anywhere, depending on the engineers that year.

This is funny because we were just talking about the cars with the filler

My 18 year old son was astonished at the prospect of having the filler tube
located under the license plate. (LOL)
