Lenny,
Taking that thought one step further, Snap-on in the poop sheet for their
line of compressors suggests cleaning the threads thoroughly with a soft
brass brush and assembling with a drop of air-tool oil. You get a good seal,
the air-tool oil repels any moisture that may develop and they are easy to
take apart should the need arise.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] air hose connectors

With the discussions on air hose length I thought that some information
about installing air hose connectors would be helpful A few years ago when I
purchased my compressor a pipe fitter friend went along. When we unpacked
it I started getting the stuff to put the air hose together. I started
wrapping Teflon tape and he stopped me. His first choice is a gas pipe dope.
It has Teflon in it. He went on to tell me that if I use the tape or the
pipe dope keep it about three threads away from the end. If it is all the
way to the end of the hose end when you screw on the disconnect coupler a
small piece of tape or pipe dope can come off. Then when you use your nail
gun or other tool that small piece can end up inside and cause you to have
a repair problem. Since he is a professional pipe fitter I listen to all of
his advice. Lenny, Please visit my home page

It is motivational, educational, humorous and has a lot of resources.
