Folks, please calm down and stop blaming.
Focus on asking for info nicely (devs) and provide decent
information without being asked for (users).
Devs should provide a template which info a reporter should
  provide.
Users should give the requested info and probably anything they
  noticed.

Re: [Blink] Blink Crashes in new 4.4.6

2016-05-24 Thread Alexander Offner
well at least one of the reporters (me) offered his help to find the
cause of the problem in his email from 14/04/16 14:22 to this mailing
list. He got ignored...
And this particular problem has been reported by 10 to 15 people now, i
saw no single reply asking any user to test anything.

@Anders: I asked for a softphone, you tell me which hardphone you use.
Maybe your users are complaining for a reason.

@Arian: if you want us to help/test, you have to tell us what to do.

That's exactly my point.

I work in support, I see whines like Alexander's all day long. Some
problems are not trivial, some problems does not occur outside very
specific environments, some problems actually require the reporter to
*help* instead of just complain.

This particular problem is tehnically 'untrackable' using the crash
report. If we could track it, we would had fixed it by now as we did
with the other problems we had in the last 7 years.

Blink is a frankenstein monster with way too many features - i accepted a loss
of features and chose to use telephone for mac which is excellent at connecting
to asterisk staying connected and working.

Buy a Polycom. Got one standing on my desk, works, pain in the arse to upgrade
the firmware but it'll do what you want.
