No not a hoax you must register from the GUI server control
under software updates go to settings select advance and in the Software

How can we reset user_beancounters for VPS's in Aventurine
The indicator stays red or yellow will not go green again.
I have rebooted the vps have turned it off for 10min, 15 and 20 min
does not change stay red or yellow.

I you have DFix2 from Compass / Solarspeed
edit your /etc/hosts.allow ad the IP
then restart sec
/etc/rc.d/init.d/sec restart
then to check do
dfix2.sh start
Look to see if the IP you added is listed
