Dnsmasq user here. No issue with dhcp service on any device in any
function. Dnsmasq does however assume it is your gateway out of the box.
As long as you tell it it's not then it works fine.

Does sound like a WiFi hardware failure doesn't it?
Unless you recently disabled wep support on your WiFi router or
something.

By the way, the nature of the audio correction in the dsp on the boom

Then it does all sound like it's probably terminal.. I don't know if
there's any obvious internal components (e.g. voltage regulators, "usual

possible it could be resurrected with a soldering iron...
Bah, buy a chromecast audio and a pair of powered speakers and use it in
place of the boom.

No, line in does an A to D to feed into the audio processing DSP. The
boom and Radio cannot produce any sound at all from a pure analogue
source, only from Digital ones.

The nuclear option seems overkill to me. It's most likely the boom PSU
or wi-fi card.

Because not all stations normalise to the same volume level. You would
think this was a done deal by now but it's not. Same thing happens with
TV channels too, and the classic "adverts louder than the programme"
syndrome.
It would be handy sometimes to be able to set volume offsets per
station, i
I doubt deterioration is to do with use level, more likely it's to do
with heat cycling or exposure to moisture. So if it's left in the sun
part of the day, or kept in a humid environment. There is a perception
they all do it but I don't think that's true.

Fwiw due to the DSP programming in the Boom and Radio the bass cone
operates at close to full excursion almost all the time, even at modest
volume levels.

I've done this numerous times with a Radio. Just plug the wire in, the

I've seen this before, which is why I wouldn't be surprised if they push
the low frequencies into mono and drive both speakers with it. The point
of the DSP design is to maximise low frequency output and in a box this
small no-one is ever going to get a sense of stereo separation below
about 100hz
Sorry this isn't going to answer your question but why would you sleep
the server? Noise? Heat? Is it a kilowatt beast?

I wouldn't say reduced uptime improves reliability or lifetime, quite
the opposite in fact. Though gear is much more reliable than it used to
be anyway. Fair enough, you save a bit of cash over a year. You'd save
more energy by walking to the shop instead of driving though, *once*..

I've found that the input switching on the radio sometimes needs you to
unplug and replug the line-in cable to get it working, I imagine the
boom is similar.
(It's nothing to do with LMS it's entirely a local firmware facility).

The input goes into an analogue to digital converter before hitting the
DSP and then onto the amps. Can't do much about the gain settings
though.

I've had good results even using a phone as analogue source too, so it's
a bit weird that your laptop's output is so low.
