The network I'm on at my client's office has a filter which blocks

and Backup.). If I attempt to post my bpython output to pastebin,
bpython hangs. This does not seem like desirable behaviour.

the default bpaste pastebin and if so, you could try to work around it now
by configuring a different pastebin either straight through XMLRPC or
`pastebinit`.
