I've met Ray numerous times; he very generous with his time and kind to fans.
I took my 14 year old son to the Atlanta WorldCon and Ray was GOH. He mingled
with the fans the entire time; the con suite had the entire 10th floor at the
Marriott and he would hang out talking to fans. My son got to talk to him at
length and I took lot of pictures of the two of them. Ray was very gracious
and magnanimous. One of the best WorldCons ever! I'm sure others have had
similar experiences. A friend knows his daughter in Thousand Oaks or
thereabouts who supposedly claims that her father became somewhat of a
curmudgeon and became cantankerous at the end; hard to believe. He didn't like
her second husband and refused her money so that's probably she was bitter.
Funny how families don't get along because in the community everyone loved Ray
Bradbury. The Bradbury building in L.A. was named after him... (JUST KIDDING!~)
R.I.P. Ray
