Back in 1985 the Warwick Indoors was the most prestigious indoor tournament in
Britain, and the Bears won a famous victory over the Battersea Boleros. Twenty
years on they re-formed for the same tournament. Would they rock, or would they
crock?

The inside money was on "crock" and Ivan Bromage failed to even make it onto
the pitch - though he did watch. The other originals: -
Tony "Wacky" Wakeford, Andy "How much?" Solomons, Tony "TB" Boud, Tim "Thin"
Fox, Paul "Papparazzi" Hurt, and Andy "Pie-boy" Plater were there. To add some
extra experience to the team Sue Underwood and Del Robins were drafted in.

Amazingly, the team remained intact, no cardiac arrests, no hernias, and they
were all able to walk out of the hall without crutches or zimmer frames. They
even managed to finish 9th out of 20 and win the plate. Not bad for a team with
an average age of over 40!

Great weekend, good to see lots of Bears past and present. Well done Scouse and
all the others involved in organising it. Congratulations to VICE for winning
it and WOOF for Spirit.

We'll be back in 5 years, on a mission not to come last.

Del
