I assume you have a graphical desktop running since you show a 'sudo' command. In Ubuntu and other distributions, you can turn off repeated keystrokes:

I think there are also known bugs with terminal interaction that don't have to do with 'brltty'.

When I type into my Linux tty sometimes a character I pressed gets input more 
times than I pressed it. It seems to get a little worse when I use the 
backspace key. It also seems to be worse while inside TUI like vim or weechat. 
Is there something wrong with my config? I am a new user so I may have 
mis-configured something.

Is there anything else about my setup that needs to be shared?
