That can be done better. I can cool a 20-liter pot in a bucket of cold
water, in less than 20 minutes.

The secret is to make sure that the water in the bucket keeps
circulating! Otherwise you end up with a layer of hot water around the
pot, and cold water elsewhere, doing no good. I just leave the hose
running a really small trickle, just enough to keep the water moving
along the pot. A friend of mine had a little toy boat with a propeller,
which he used for a similar purpose. It worked too. Just squeeze it
between the pot and the bucket, and turn the engine on...

But as you say,
