The change in the default load address handling in Bug 3052 has far reaching
consequences, breaking the memory layout of existing linker scripts.
Before 2.18 the linker set the lma to the vma if it wasn't otherwise specified.
Any existing linker scripts which previously assume this to be the case

I had good reason to make the change in lma default and I still think it is a
better default than the previous behaviour, although I may not have made the
change if I'd known that many people would be affected.
