cause:

as macro with arguments if already defined as

So far there have been only two problems (thanks for the testing
and reports, Elbert Pol and James Youngman!) and both are fixed
in this new snapshot.
I'll release coreutils-7.3 tomorrow if this no-known-problems
condition persists for a few hours longer.
