As it is a separate issue from this, could you file a new report for that?
Though I suspect your environment is missing GNU libiconv, the system iconv
should work to a degree. So, it would be helpful to attach
gettext-tools/config.log.

Thanks, this is my fault as I was using manual FTP so I should have seen a
newer version there.
