Hi, Can somebody who interfaces with the issue tracker please open a bug for Lily's treatment of multisystem cropped images? Full thread is here; a MWE for the bug can be taken from the first post in the thread:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2021-01/msg00075.html It appears that what happened in that thread is that the author of the feature couldn't be convinced that the behavior described in the thread is a bug. The behavior is definitely a bug. In short, Lily removes all inter-system whitespace from cropped images. This means that multisystem crop currently destroys score layout explicitly specified by users. A further question was raised in the thread above: should the current (intersystem-whitespace-removing) behavior be preserved? Perhaps as an additional command-line option? Answer: no, the current behavior should be replaced. No user responded to the above thread asking for the current (intersystem-whitespace-removing) behavior to be preserved. On the other hand, users continue to appear on list and ask for a multisystem crop that crops only around the edges of an image: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2021-04/msg00121.html It would be great if we can get consensus on this and move forward. LilyPond's SVG output (and single-system cropping) are truly excellent. This combination of features has been an incredible boon to users inserting Lily-generated images on web properties. If we can nudge Lily's multisystem crop behavior the right direction, then website authors can publish beautiful multisystem LilyPond output with confidence, too.
