make-4.2 fails to sucessfully parallel build git

Hello, we got a bug report [1] at Gentoo regarding parallel build of git with make-4.2. It seems to be related to an upstream bug report [2] which was fixed prior of the make-4.2 release. Once that commit [3] is reverted, git can be successfully built again with make-4.2. It seems like make-4.2
