With this diff, I haven't had a crash yet.
Usually I plant in less than 2 minutes, with this patch, after 30
intensive minutes it still holds.

With this diff, either it crash the same way as before either it
freeze completely, no output, no keyboard.
I tried a dozen times without success.
When my machine doesn't get a reply from a DNS server, generally the
wifi router of the place where I'm drinking coffee, applications sit
in gethostbyname(3) "indefinitely". At least too long for me to wait
and I end up killing the app.
