Summary:  
EMC Unisphere for VMAX Virtual Appliance contains a fix for an arbitrary file 
upload vulnerability. This vulnerability could expose the VMAX Virtual 
Appliance to be potentially compromised by malicious users.

Details:  

EMC Unisphere for VMAX Virtual Appliance is affected by an Arbitrary File 
Upload vulnerability. A certain HTTP servlet in vApp Manager accepts files from 
an unauthenticated client and uses the file path provided by the client to form 
the path on the server and writes the file to that path as the root user. An 
attacker could exploit this scenario to write arbitrary files to arbitrary 
paths as root user and compromise the system.



Resolution:  
The following EMC Unisphere for VMAX Virtual Appliance release contains 
resolution to this vulnerability:
•       EMC Unisphere for VMAX Virtual Appliance 8.2.0

EMC recommends all customers upgrade at the earliest opportunity.
