The first effort will be to look at all medicare claim files and load into a star schema so they can report on it, mainly for Population Health but also for PMPM (per member per month) cost. They will then begin to build a roster that they can tie to overall EMR, so that they can begin to understand metrics around patient behavior, beginning with (but not exclusively) Medicare. Currently this function is carried out by an outsourced vendor and our client would like to bring the function back within their own organization.
