*Job Title : Big Data Architect* *Location : Farmington Hills MI* *Duration : 12 months Contract* *Key Duties and Responsibilities:* Make well-reasoned and pragmatic choices about the right mix of proven and bleeding-edge technology to make the platforms optimal to build on Provide direction on the architectural design of highly scalable software products using relational databases, NoSQL, and other big data solutions Interact with developers and DBAs around the design of features, and help refine their vision and make it actionable Decide how solutions get customized and used by dozens of product teams Development and maintenance of overall technology vision and roadmap Review and make recommendations on existing platforms for continuous improvement Maintain technical and functional familiarity with key software platforms and products within the organization Development of technical standards related to data storage Development of technical frameworks (reference architectures and patterns) related to data storage Research and evaluation (prototyping and POCs) of innovative and appropriate technologies Research and analysis of technology trends Assessments of vendors and technologies Communication and education to internal stakeholders Determine which platform should provide existing and new features Hands-on development, independently and paired with software engineers Consulting support on projects Tier 3 support for operational issues *Experience/Qualifications: (Required)* Minimum 10 years of technology experience At least 5 years of architecture experience developing software applications with a focus on highly scalable database and related data storage approaches Minimum of 1 year of architecture experience working with NoSQL technologies Strong technology skills across multiple disciplines Knowledge of various software architecture methodologies and frameworks, with ability to customize to make practical Ability to drive major changes via formal and informal influence Excellent written and verbal communication skills Current understanding of industry trends and latest web technologies is required Ability to anticipate and design around potential problems that could impact user experience, scalability, security and reliability Excellent, demonstrated creative and practical problem-solving and issue resolution skills Up to 50% travel as required, expect 20% on average *Experience: (Preferred)* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline Experience with highly scalable solutions using Mongo Experience with data warehousing, ETL, and reporting solutions Knowledge of Higher Education Systems such as LMS, Assessment Engines, and/or Library Research space Experience working in an Agile development environment, using XP programming practices Solomon Francis IT Technical Recruiter Seven Hills Software Technologies Inc.
