Location : Smithfield, RI
Duration : 9 Months +

NOTE: we are requiring Architecture experience as well as some leadership/mentoring. Person does not have to be a manager, a tech lead with architecture experience is okay.
This role will participate in design, development and implementation of web applications and financial tools, with a particular focus on presentation tier architecture. Under minimal supervision, conduct the analysis, design and development of software to support a robust, web based brokerage platform, contributing to the overall success of projects as they move through the different phases of the project life cycle.
Your knowledge will be called upon to establish and meet guidelines and standards that will allow our team to continue to deliver important and vital solutions for our customers. Our projects involve developing functions and tools used by Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and Correspondents. Our applications mainly use HTML, Client-Side Frameworks (Angular) written as _javascript_ modules (CommonJS, AMD), JSON, Java and Web Services. You should be able to understand and develop technical designs at the application level, define architectural strategies and solutions as well as partner effectively with the developers you support. You must be able to describe problems and recommend solutions to project leaders. You must have great communication skills, be a team player, and have an aptitude for learning new technologies.
Primary Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement architectural solutions for cross cutting problems in a dynamic financial services environment
• Establish technical standards and guidelines used by development teams in developing web applications
• Establish the technical direction, including assessment of new technologies, planning the adoption of new technologies and socializing architectural evolution of the platform
• Collaborate effectively with Fidelity Institutional Technology level architects
• Contribute effectively at many different points in a project life cycle as an individual contributor
• Adhere to project timelines, addressing and resolving technical issues
• Lead functional/technical group discussions with analysts and developers under moderate supervision
• Deliver on both projects and support tasks in a dynamic environment
• Develop concise and clear technical design documents based on analysis of business requirements
• Describe problems and recommend solutions to project leaders
Education and Experience
• 8+ years of development experience with strong working knowledge of Java, JSP, Servlets, HTML, XML, and UNIX / Linux
• Experience with Spring Framework
• Experience with SOAP and RESTful Web Services
• Experience with Rich Internet Application (RIA) technologies, especially AJAX, _javascript_ and related frameworks/tools and MV*.
• Experience with writing web applications targeting different form factors
• Awareness of the strengths/limitations of current and developing technologies
Skills and Knowledge
• Able to manage time and meet deadlines for concurrent projects/assignments
• Able to work in a fast paced, highly matrixed environment to achieve group goals
• Possesses analysis, development, and unit testing project life cycle experience
• Ability to work as part of a technical team and collaborate with other members of the team to set technical direction
• Knowledge of object oriented design and analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Initiative, with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks
• Knowledge of Equities market and Trading of Stock, Options and Mutual Funds is a plus.
