I have been testing out my equipment against the emergency nets, and find my
reach to be pretty weak from the house (50 W from the Car); Missouri City.
Could not even touch the 146.940 ARES SW repeater or the Red Cross. I want
to be able to confiden
Thank you. I believe I am going to go with a Firestik mounted at the roof
level. Do you feel there is an advantage to a collinear instead? I think they
are approximately equivalent.

It's on one of the buildings at JSC..W5RRR is the JSC club call. It used to
be on a 200ft tower but that got dismantled years ago and it moved to the 5
story building on campus

only 90 feet in the air. I doubt hitting it from Missouri City is possible.
I am near Lakewood Church with a pretty good antenna set up. I
can h barely hear it.
