I have no problem hitting the repeater from Deer Park, Tx. with an ICOM
W32A & that's easily 35+ miles away.
As Robert says, you've got a radio, antenna or COAX problem.
I used to have no problem hitting the repeater from my pickup with a 1/4
wave 18" long mag mount on the top of my old
Thank you. I believe I am going to go with a Firestik mounted at the roof
level. Do you feel there is an advantage to a collinear instead? I think they
are approximately equivalent.

It's on one of the buildings at JSC..W5RRR is the JSC club call. It used to
be on a 200ft tower but that got dismantled years ago and it moved to the 5
story building on campus

Info on the 146.640. https://www.w5rrr.org/repeater-information/ It is
only 90 feet in the air. I doubt hitting it from Missouri City is possible.
I am near Lakewood Church with a pretty good antenna set up. I
can h barely hear it.

If you cannot hit the 146.94 with 50w from Missouri City, you have a radio
or antenna problem with your mobile rig. Robert
