Hi,
Does anyone have experience/advice using a creative commons license
with dance descriptions?

Hi Michael,
We are going to agree to disagree. My pre-dance lesson has been very
successful -- we've observed that many newcomers in those lessons
continue to stay into the second half of the evening or all the way to
the end. I've run my style of pre-dance lesson for more than 400
dances,
I've got clarification back from the organizer and there's no specific
challenges over slower and potentially unstable movement. Thanks for the
ideas shared! I'll likely be well sorted for the event.

You can do the hand jive standing or seated and you don't need seats in any
particular configuration, and you also don't need partners.
I organized the dance program for the World Science Fiction Convention last
year and among Susan's program items was a hand jive session, which did get

I have a private family dance gig with a church this weekend. In our
touching base just now, the contact brought up a request to include *some*
material that would be amenable to a couple of folks who wish to
participate but have mobility issues.
I'm seeking further detail from them to know the sc
I enjoy this process, too. I like to toss in an opposite one. For example,
I called a first day of spring dance once and had a few spring-themed
dances, but I added in a winter-themed one, too, just for the laughs.

I agree with this. I have observed an occasional beginners session where the
caller tries to teach every single move. That makes no sense, how can a person
who is unfamiliar with all of this possibly absorb so much information?
Definitely some work with music. And sometimes I have observed con
“maybe swinging”?
You swing every 15 seconds!
And, for beginners, the most common fault in contras is to finish the swing on
the wrong side, thus messing up the next figure or the progression.
If I only had time to teach one thing, then it would unquestionably be the

Hi All
I couldn't disagree more with the comments below.
For me, dance is movement laid upon music - no music, no dance. Having
the band is best, but if the band can't do it (why not?) then recorded
music can work fine. I start with a circle (no partner) and get everyone
moving. Dancers get t
