You have been subscribed to a public bug: Occurred during upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10. This system was originally installed with 8.04, and did a release upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 to 9.04 to 9.10 to 10.04 to 10.11 to 11.04 properly. Originally installed with g++. At some point (11.04?) the separate g++ was removed and moved into gcc I think, but now the dependency crashed after nearly 18 hours of upgrading, which is highly annoying.
