Hi,
I have now had several skype chat sessions which have not frozen up.
I found the solution after rereading the skype forum postings.
I saw the recommendation to take out all audio notifications.
I did this by going through each notification, and unchecking the box to play
an audio notificat
I've just seen this comment in the forum.

Looks like I'm not the only one.

I have now installed the mainline kernel 3.2.0 rc4.
In case someone out there is secretly watching this bug.

Since it doesn't seem like this is a problem with the Ubuntu packaging
of skype, and the bug exists in a newer version of the software, could
you possibly open a bug report regarding this at skype's bug tracking
website? They will be better suited to resolve this problem. If you make

since skype isn't an ubuntu package
I had the same problems when I was running the ubuntu version.
I switched over to the version from skype downloads to see if that would work
