You have been subscribed to a public bug: I filed this against ia32-libs because Skype is not an Ubuntu package and even the ostensibly 64-bit package uses the 32-bit libs. Whenever I run Skype, I find that other apps, and my entire desktop, slow considerably: the mouse movement is inconsistent and there is sometimes several seconds between my moving the mouse and the pointer moving. When I type into the terminal, the keypresses often do not register immediately. Killing Skype solves the problem, but several seconds elapse between my typing "killall skype" and Skype disappearing (this is very unusual - the result is usually instantaneous). This started happening about a week ago and I have been using Precise since around beta 2.
