[Capistrano] Re: Deploying from CVS (ssh-rsa) to dev box (ssh-dss)

Pretty sure that I did. I made the change, logged out, logged back in and verified that I could checkout from CVS without running this export command. Since that worked I then moved on to deploying via Capistrano and again was refused connection. Once I added it to the checkout command string

[Capistrano] upload helper vs upload task

2008-06-27 Thread ben.koski
This probably seems like a ridiculous question, but I just can't figure this one out: I'm trying to create a task to upload a file, so I added namespace :deploy do task :my_txt, :roles = :db do upload('/tmp/myfile.txt','/tmp/myfile.txt') end end to my deploy.rb--just like I've seen in

Yeah, when there's ambiguity, you can use top to disambiguate, e.g.: top.upload(...) - Jamis On Jun 27, 2008, at 11:40 AM, ben.koski wrote: This probably seems like a ridiculous question, but I just can't figure this one out: I'm trying to create a task to upload a file, so I added

You need to tell cap to create a pty for each process: default_run_options[:pty] = true Annoying, but some commands that have interactive components (like sudo) won't run if they aren't run with a tty. - Jamis On Jun 27, 2008, at 2:20 PM, Jamie Orchard-Hays wrote: I'm getting this

Incidentally, if you want to run without a pty in general (which is handy, because then your .bashrc will be loaded for each command), you can specify :pty = true on specific commands to force those to use a pty: sudo foo, :pty = true - Jamis On Jun 27, 2008, at 2:42 PM, Jamie

I needed to upgrade my ruby install anyway. Since I want to run Passenger, I installed Enterprise Ruby and today's new gem, capistrano 2.4.2. And suddenly I can use capistrano to run 'uname -a' on my production server from my dev server just fine. It even uses my forwarded ssh-keys! *does a happy

If you're using sqlite databases in production (not something I'd recommend, actually), then you need to make sure they get put under the shared directory, rather than in your release directory. That's something you'll need to configure in your app, or make happen in some before/after
